We were able to get a little time with Firefly alumni and 2016 artist, Boy & Bear. They played Firefly back in 2014, and are excited to return to The Woodlands. Read more about the band below, and catch them at the Lawn Stage on Friday afternoon.
What is your favorite part about performing?
I love the energy and power you can create on stage and receive from the audience when performing. It’s a special feeling.
Why are you excited to perform at Firefly?
With bands like Death Cab for Cutie, M83, Tame Impala, Of Monsters and Men and Kings Of leon It’s hard not to be excited about being a part of such a great line up.
What’s the most memorable moment on stage you’ve ever had?
We were lucky to play Red Rocks in Colorado a couple of years ago. What a place!
Do you have any pre-performance rituals?
We always warm up for about an hour. We grab some guitars and percussion instruments and play around back stage, not always on our own songs, in fact usually we play other peoples songs.
What is the most difficult thing about performing that your fans may not know about?
All the traveling to get from one show to the other.
Have you ever been to Delaware? If so, when and for what?
We played Firefly in 2014. Looking forward to coming back!
What’s your favorite thing about summer music festivals?
The long days, the celebration that’s in the air.
If you had to listen to one album only for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Curtis Mayfield. “ There’s No Place Like America Today”
Who has been the greatest influence in your musical career?
There’s not one person for me. I draw my influences across so many different musicians and performers. For me it is about being open to new sounds and ideas as you never know what you might find.
If you had to eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?
If you could have dinner with one person, dead or alive, who would it be?
Keith Richards. I think he has a few stories to tell.
What’s your favorite song of the moment?
I’m still digging Kurt Vile’s “ Pretty Pimpin”
What skill do you wish you had?
To be a professional Surfer
