And It Keeps Getting Better

February 27, 2015 AT 11:09 am

Music is an incredible concept. It unpacks memories, triggers emotions and brings people together. They say it can make you run faster, lift heavier, and heal quicker. This time of year, the idea of music evokes a myriad of emotions in each of us; anticipation, hope, impatience, happiness, nostalgia, excitement, the list goes on. All of these feelings come with the territory of being a music fan.

The 2015 Firefly lineup has arrived, and we could not be more excited to share it with all of you. After four years of building the festival, settling into The Woodlands, and getting to know our fans, we are confident that 2015 is going to be the best year in Firefly’s history.

I’m writing to you as a member of the Firefly talent team. We have worked for months, eleven to be exact, building the best lineup that we could. We build and build, we lose and win, and we reassess at every turn. Each day it gets more difficult to keep our favorite secret from all of you. Despite friendly competition with Europe, recording studios, and a handful of family weddings, we could not be more proud to celebrate our most fan-driven, diverse, and legendary lineup yet.

In the last post, Greg explained the basics of our approach to the complicated puzzle that is the Firefly lineup. Today, I would like to share the many reasons why we’re so excited about this year’s final product.

When Paul McCartney walks into The Woodlands this summer, Firefly will change forever. Paul McCartney is the sign of a new era for Firefly; he represents the growth that Firefly has seen over the past three years, and cues a future of legendary acts that will grace The Firefly Stage for years to come.

Among the other names on the 2015 lineup, we are bringing the #1 headliner pick from the talent survey, seven 2015 Grammy nominees, and the artist who taught you to drop it like it’s hot. We’re delivering a wealth of indie rock-centric acts that Firefly knows and loves. We use our fan-based talent survey as a tool to guide our decisions, and we’re excited to say that after this year’s festival, 23 out of the top 25 acts will have performed at Firefly. We have arguably the biggest breakout act from the latter half of 2014 and the artist with the #1 alternative song from last year. We have our biggest hip hop and electronic rosters to date, and are bringing in a new stage to complement the high energy, high production experience. We have two of the largest female up-and-coming acts from 2014 and are anticipating a huge year for many of the acts that round out the bottom half of the bill.

Now what? The lineup is out, there are no more secrets. The accumulation of emotions is teeming, only to be settled once Monday has passed and tickets are purchased. Then the wait starts all over again. 110 days until we meet at The Woodlands. 110 days until these words on a poster turn into memories, etched into our lives forever. We are ready to embark on the adventure of 2015, and we are incredibly honored to share it with each and every one of you.

“And, in the end
The love you take
Is equal to the love you make.”
